HUBUNGAN PERAN DAN SIKAP KELUARGA DALAM MENINGKATKAN KESEHATAN JIWA LANSIA DI PUSKESMAS SIMPANG MAMPLAM KABUPATEN BIREUEN

Abstract

The process of globalization has an impact on the reduced role of the family in the quality of the health status of the elderly. In the elderly, there are many life problems that befall him, such conditions tend to have the potential to cause mental health problems so that a good family role and attitude are needed towards the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between roles and attitudes in improving the mental health of the elderly at the Simpang Mamplam Health Center. This research is quantitative with descriptive correlation research design. The population of this study was the elderly aged 60. Sampling used purposive random sampling method with a sample of 50 respondents.. The results of this study indicate that the majority of respondents aged 61–65 years, amounting to 37 people (74.0%), the majority are female, as many as 28 people (56.0%), and the majority work as IRT as many as 26 people (52, 0%). The role of the family is in a bad category as many as 27 respondents (54.0%). The attitude of the family with the category is not good as many as 26 respondents (52.0%). The mental health of the elderly with the category of having problems is as many as 32 respondents (64.0%). The results of the chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.001 (˃ = 0.05) and an attitude p-value of 0.000 (˃ = 0.05). This shows that there is a relationship between the role and attitude of the family in improving the mental health of the elderly at the SimpangMamplam Health Center, Bireuen Regency in 2021. It is hoped that families can modernize knowledge about roles and attitudes in improving the mental health of the elderly so that the mental health of the elderly is always maintained and pay more attention to the condition of the elderly so that the elderly can enjoy their old age in a healthy manner, both physically and mentally.
