DAMPAK AKREDITASI DAYAH OLEH BADAN AKREDITASI DAYAH ACEH DALAM MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS PEMBELAJARAN KITAB KUNING (TURĀṠ)PADA LEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN DAYAH DI ACEH

Abstract


Dayah, as traditional Islamic educational institutions in Aceh, play a vital role in preserving Islamic intellectual heritage through the teaching of kitab kuning (turāṡ). Even so, the development of modern education requires measurable quality standards so that dayah remain formally recognized. Existing problems include the absence of a consistent quality assurance system, which raises concerns regarding management quality, curriculum structure, and social legitimacy. This study aims to analyze the impact of accreditation conducted by the Aceh Dayah Accreditation Board (BADA) on improving the quality of kitab kuning learning. Accreditation also functions as an instrument to organize the curriculum, enhance teacher professionalism, improve governance, and strengthen the social legitimacy. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with members of the Aceh Dayah Accreditation Council, dayah leaders, kitab kuning teachers, and students. Secondary data were obtained from official BADA documents, dayah curriculum regulations, and relevant scholarly literature on Islamic education quality. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that accreditation significantly influences the structuring of the kitab kuning curriculum, improvement of teacher competence, better organization of students’ learning activities, professionalization of dayah governance, and increased public trust. Remaining challenges include the limited number of assessors, administrative constraints, and resistance from some dayah leaders. Therefore, accreditation serves not only as an evaluation tool but also as a mechanism for continuous development that preserves tradition while enhancing the competitiveness of dayah in Aceh
