PENGARUH MEDIA GAMBAR TERHADAP PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS PUISI KELAS XI SMA NEGERI 2 KUTA BARO ACEH BESAR

Abstract


This study aims to improve the poetry writing skills of Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 2 Kuta Baro, Aceh Besar through the use of picture media. The background of this research stems from students’ low ability in writing poetry, particularly in generating ideas, choosing diction, and developing imagery. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 20 Grade XI students, consisting of 9 males and 11 females. The research instrument was a poetry writing test based on pictures provided by the researcher. The results indicated an improvement in students’ poetry writing skills from cycle I to cycle II. In the first cycle, students’ abilities were still in the sufficient category, with difficulties in diction and imagery development. However, in the second cycle, significant progress was observed, as most students were able to select appropriate words, create more vivid imagery, and align their poetry with the themes of the pictures. Therefore, the use of picture media is proven to be effective in enhancing students’ poetry writing skills and can serve as an alternative strategy for creative and enjoyable Indonesian language learning
