FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI OTITIS MEDIA AKUT PADA ANAK DI POLIKLINIK RSUD MEURAXA BANDA ACEH
Abstract
This study aims to identify factors that influence the incidence of acute otitis media in children. Acute otitis media is a middle ear infection that often occurs in children and can cause serious complications if not treated properly. This study used a cross-sectional study method by collecting data from medical records of pediatric patients diagnosed with acute otitis media. The factors analyzed included age, gender, history of upper respiratory tract infection, exposure to cigarette smoke, genetic factors, and environmental conditions. The results of the analysis showed that the age of children under 5 years, history of upper respiratory tract infection, and exposure to cigarette smoke were the main risk factors that significantly increased the incidence of acute otitis media. In addition, genetic factors and environmental conditions such as poor home ventilation also contributed to the risk of infection. This conclusion emphasizes the importance of preventive measures, including reducing exposure to cigarette smoke and improving environmental cleanliness, to reduce the incidence of acute otitis media in children.
