Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the formulation of a good maggot growth medium for maggots raised on different media. The method used in this study was experimental with a completely randomized design of 5 treatments and 2 replicates, namely T1 = 65% fish skin + 35% copra meal, T2 = 55% fish skin + 35% copra meal + 15% cabbage, T3 = 35% fish skin + 65% copra meal, T4 = 35% fish skin + 55% copra meal + 15% cabbage, T5 = 40% fish skin + 40% copra meal + 20% cabbage. The parameters observed in this study were population size, weight growth and length growth of maggots, and final weight of BSF maggots. The results showed that the formulation of animal protein-rich media affected the growth and density of maggots. Treatment T1 produced the highest length, individual weight, and total weight of maggots. In this study, the most effective dose for increasing maggot growth was treatment T1.
