Gambaran Pengguna Media Sosial Facebook Dan Instagram Dalam Promosi Kesehatan Bahaya Merokok

Abstract

Cigarette smoke contains thousands of chemical toxics and ingredients that can cause cancer and death.Nowadays, the deaths from cigarettes in developing countries nearly quadrupled. In this case, health promotion is used as a process of empowering the community to maintain and expand healthy life through communication, information and education activities. Facebook and Instagram are some of the popular social media used as health promotion efforts. This study aims to analyze the description of the use of social media Facebook and Instagram as the health promotion of the dangers of smoking. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross sectional descriptive research design. The population in this study is Facebook social media users and / or Instagram with the age limit of 19 to 21 years old and located around the city of Banda Aceh. The results of the study revealed that the audiences of advertisements are obtained in the 18-24 year age group in Indonesia. Furthermore, based on the placement of advertisements targeted by researchers in the features of desktop news stories, Facebook and Instagram stories, Instagram feeds, and mobile news,it is found that Instagram gained more viewers (7847 viewers) with 1428 viewers per 10-second duration, while Facebook gained 772 viewers with 121 viewers per 10-second duration with men becoming the most viewers from the total number of viewers reviewed based on gender. This study shows that the use of Facebook and Instagram social media is effective to attract more people in delivering health information with relatively inexpensive costs. However, it cannot reach the audiences based on the age-target group and desired location.
