HUBUNGAN DURASI DAN JARAK PENGGUNAAN VISUAL DISPLAY TERMINAL DENGAN KEJADIAN COMPUTER VISION SYNDROME (CVS) PADA MAHASISWA FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN
Abstract
Computer Vision Syndrome caused by using a monitor screen or VDT with a long
duration and a short distance. The symptoms of CVS vary from symptoms of asthenopia, symptoms
related to the ocular surface, visual symptoms as well as extraocular symptoms. This study aims to
determine the relationship between the duration and distance of using Visual Display Terminal with
the incidence of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) in medical students. This type of research is a
quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study was students of
the Faculty of Medicine, Abulyatama University from the 2018- 2020 class. Samples were taken
from a population that had met the inclusion criteria as many as 167 people. Sampling using a total
sample technique. The data collection tool used is a questionnaire. The results obtained with the
Chi-square test there is no relationship between the duration of using the monitor screen with
computer vision syndrome because the p-value is 0.349, while between the distance between the use
of the monitor screen and computer vision syndrome, the p-value <0.005 is 0.002. This study
concludes that there is no relationship between the duration of using the monitor screen with the
incidence of computer vision syndrome and there is a relationship between the distance between the
monitor and the incidence of computer vision syndrome.
