Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that can occur in all populations where a person's blood pressure rises above normal, namely > 140/90 mmHg. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the incidence of hypertension in Kajhu Village, Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar Regency. This research method is quantitative research with cross sectional design. The sample used was 210 respondents with a population of 2,318. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis performed was univariate, bivariate, and multivariate using the chi square test. The results of the study based on bivariate tests showed that family history of hypertension with a p value of 0.000 <0.05, obesity with a p value of 0.000 <0.05, excessive salt consumption with a p value of 0.005 <0.05 and poor rest habits 0.001 <0.05. Multivariate results based on the results of the logistic regression test variables that influence the incidence of hypertension, with a p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) and an OR (Exp) B value of 0.031, meaning that obese respondents will have a 0.031 times chance of experiencing hypertension. Puskesmas are advised to increase monitoring and control of hypertensive patients, especially for the elderly, people who have a family history of hypertension and who have bad habits so that blood pressure remains stable.
