Abstract

Independent Midwifery Practice (IMP) is a form of healthcare service provided by midwives according to their authority and competencies. The success of IMP not only relies on the midwife's competence but also on a strong interest in developing the business. This interest is influenced by various factors, such as education, knowledge, length of service, and motivation. This study aims to determine the factors that influence midwives' interest in entrepreneurship in Independent Midwifery Practice (IMP) in Sabang City in 2022. This descriptive study uses a cross-sectional design, with the population consisting of all midwives in Sabang City, totaling 134 midwives. The results showed no significant influence of knowledge (P value = 0.545), education (P value = 0.804), and length of service (P value = 0.481) on the midwives' interest in IMP entrepreneurship. However, there was a significant influence of motivation (P value = 0.020) on the midwives' interest in starting an IMP business. Therefore, motivation is a key factor influencing midwives' interest in running an IMP business. This study is expected to serve as a reference and motivation for midwives to engage more actively in IMP entrepreneurship.
