HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN DAN PERILAKU KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT DENGAN KEJADIAN KARIES GIGI ANAK DI SEKOLAH DASAR NEGERI 46 BANDA ACEH

Abstract

Abstract: Dental caries is the most common disease found in the oral cavity, so it is a major problem for dental and oral health. Caries can be caused by several factors including the economy, consumption of foods with high sugar content in large quantities and the behavior of ignoring dental and oral hygiene due to a lack of knowledge about the importance of dental and oral care. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and behavior of dental and oral health with the incidence of dental caries in children at SD Negeri 46 Banda Aceh. The research design uses a correlative descriptive design that uses a cross sectional approach. The population of this study was 67 students with a total sample of 67 students using the Sotal Sampling method. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. Data collection was carried out from 27 to 30 October 2018. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that there was a relationship between dental and oral health knowledge and the incidence of dental caries in children at Public School 46 Banda Aceh 2018 (n67). After a statistical test (Chi-Square test), P-Value=0.001 (P-Value< 0.05). There is a relationship between dental and oral health behavior and the incidence of dental caries in children at Public School 46 Banda Aceh 2018 (n67). After a statistical test (Chi-Square test), P-Value = 0.000 (P-Value <0.05) It is recommended that students at Public School 46 Banda Aceh avoid food or drink that can cause dental caries, and change behavior by doing dental care by brushing their teeth regularly, and teachers are expected to educate students regarding dental caries
